Minutes for 4th December 2018

Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance:
45 members were in attendance.

Apologies: (6) Jim Archer, Leo Dolan, Jack Henderson, Hammy Houston, Norman Maxwell and John O’Neill

The President gave a warm welcome to the members and thanked everyone for coming early to facilitate the taking of the 30th Anniversary photograph.

New Member:
John McHenry proposed that Billy Holmes be accepted for membership of Coleraine Probus Club. The proposal was seconded by Nigel Semple and unanimously approved by the members. The President then welcomed Billy and presented him with his membership pack.

This morning’s speaker, club member John McKegney, was then introduced, the title of his talk being “Journey to Mali”

A question and answer session followed the talk. The President thanked John for a very interesting and evocative presentation and talk which was fully endorsed by the members.

The minutes of the 27th November 2018 were, with the approval of the members, taken as read and signed by the President.

Social:
Joe Alcorn reminded members that the next club lunch will be the 30th Anniversary Celebratory Lunch and Entertainment on Tuesday 11th December in The Lodge Hotel. To date 87 members and guests have signed in for the lunch. This will be the last meeting before the Christmas break.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten confirmed that he has nothing further to report. .

Treasurer: Nigel Semple confirmed that he has nothing further to report.

The President’s Charity. The final total collected for the N.I. Chest, Heart and Stroke Group amounted to £284:00

2. Counterpoint Christmas Concert in St. Patricks Church on Friday 7th December 2018 at 7:30 pm. Admission £10:00 payable at the door.

Next Meeting: The next speakers meeting will be held on Tuesday 8th January 2019 in Portstewart Golf Club when Andrew Walsh will speak on the subject of “Operation Mincemeat.”

Closing Remarks. The President thanked members for attending in such good numbers and looked forward to seeing them at the Celebratory Lunch on Tuesday 11th December.
