Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Held in Portstewart Golf Club on Tuesday 3rd September 2013

Attendance: 28 members were present.

Apologies: Jim Archer, Ronnie Gray, Hamilton Houston, John Leslie, John McGlade and Mike Turner (6)

Club President Graham Kane welcomed club members and guest James Dinsmore to the meeting. The President then introduced our speaker for the morning Ms Wilma Stewart, who gave an interesting talk about the 'Face to Face' programme for Power NI. A summary of this talk from Wilma's PowerPoint presentation, is available on the web site (‘Click’ Blue ‘Probus Speakers’ tab above), for members interest. A vote of thanks was proposed by Nigel Semple and was passed on by the President. The members showed their appreciation.

Minutes: The minutes of the meeting on 7th May 2013 were taken as read.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda

Probus Rally 2014: Jim Gordon and our Club President gave a brief report on very enjoyable and well-organised All Ireland Rally held in Athlone this year.

Social: Jim Gordon said that menus for the club lunch on 24th September would be available from Jim Foote at the next meeting (Jim being unable to attend). Jim then went on to say that the club would be holding it's special 25th Anniversary Lunch on the 26th November, in the Lodge Hotel. This would replace the Lunch part of the Christmas concert - of which the entertainment part would still be held on 10th December.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten reported that John McHenry had recovered well from his earlier Hip operation. Jack Donaldson was currently in hospital, and that Earnest Preece and Alec Elliot had been visited and were doing well, although not able to be mobile.

Treasurer: Nigel Semple said that the accounts were in order and had nothing to report.

A O B: New Member: Joe Alcorn proposed James Dinsmore for club membership. This was seconded by John Ludlow and passed by all members present.

Next Meeting: Would be on 10th September, when the guest speaker would be Jack McCann, who is a member of the Youth Parliament in the UK.
