Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 40 members were in attendance.

Apologies (9) Leo Dolan, John Graham, Des Johnston, Norman Maxwell, Des Moore, Ian Murray, Ken Parkes, Jerry Sayers and Jim Torrens.

Past President Mike Turner, standing in for our President, welcomed new member, John Christy and presented him with his Club badges and a copy of the Coleraine Probus Club Constitution. He also congratulated Jim Nesbitt and Cecil Leitch both of whom recently celebrated their 90th birthday.

Mike Turner then welcomed members to the meeting, together with visiting guests Bernard Stanley and John O’Neill. He then introduced this morning’s speakers, Carol and Ken, who went on to tell us about the SAMARITANS.

An in depth question and answer session followed the talk. A vote of thanks, proposed by John McKegney, was passed to Carol and Ken by the Past President. The members showed their appreciation of an interesting and informative talk.

Weekly Business:
Minutes: The minutes of the 18th September 2018 were, with the approval of the members, taken as read and signed by the Past President.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Correspondence: None

Reports:
Social: Joe Alcorn reminded members that the next club lunch will be held on Tuesday 30th October 2018. This will be a Buffet Lunch at The Lodge Hotel.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten said that he reported on former members at the previous meeting Jim Gordon is currently looking for a suitable nursing home in the locality.

Treasurer: Nigel Semple, Nothing to report.

Next Meeting: The next speakers meeting will be held on Tuesday 9th October 2018 in Portstewart Golf Club when Alison McCaughan will speak on “The 1718 Bann Valley Migration”.
Closing Remarks: The Past President thanked members for attending and looked forward to seeing them at the next meeting when the President, Des Moore, will take the chair.
