Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club

Attendance: 36 members.

The Club Vice-President, Mike Turner, welcomed members to the meeting and presented new member Danny Kennedy with his club badges and constitution.

The Vice President then introduced our speaker for the morning John Moore, the topic of his talk being “The Changing Face of Portrush”.

John took those present on a journey to Portrush to experience the changing face of Portrush, developing from the small village at Glenmanus to a holiday resort of luxurious living, progressive entertainment and high quality emporiums. The talk was liberally illustrated with photographs which often jogged the forgotten memories.

The Vice-President in deference to Mr Moore asked members with questions to speak to him after the meeting.

A vote of thanks proposed by Cecil Leitch was passed to John Moore by the Vice-President. The members showed their appreciation.

Minutes: Because of the time limitation it was agreed by the members present that the Minutes of the 13 October 2015 be taken as read.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Correspondence: 1. An acknowledgement was received from Barry Torrens and The Disaster Emergency Committee for the Probus donation of £220.00 to the Nepal Disaster Fund
2. A letter from Moira McIvor of Action MS thanking Probus Members for their warm welcome to the meeting on 6 October 2015.

REPORTS:
Social: Joe Alcorn now has the menus for the Probus Lunch on Tuesday 27 October. If possible menu choices should be handed in today or given by telephone to Joe not later than Thursday 22 October 2015.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten has nothing new to report.

Treasurer: Nothing to report.

A O B: Ken Parkes proposed that John McKegney be admitted to membership of Coleraine Probus Club. The proposal was seconded by Norman Maxwell and approved unanimously by the attending members.

Next Speakers Meeting: Will be held on Tuesday 3 November 2015 and the speaker will be Ken McCormack, the subject of his talk being “Curious Tales of the Earl Bishop”.

The Vice-President thanked the members for attending and looked forward to seeing them at the Probus Lunch to be held on Tuesday 27 October – 12 noon for 12.30pm.
