Talk by Dean Griffin about ‘Dean Swift’, who is better known by his full name, Johnathon SwiftClub President Graham Kane welcomed members and guests. He then introduced our speaker for the morning, Dean Griffin, who was making a very welcome return to our club. On this visit we were treated to a fascinating insight into the life and times of Jonathon Swift, or 'Dean Swift' to give his formal title. At the start of his talk, the Dean told how he first came across Jonathon Swift (JS). It turns out that they both went to the same school (in Kilkenny), although around 250 years separated their attendance. Many years later the Dean, then serving in Derry, was elected as Dean of St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin (incidentally, it is the largest Church in all of Ireland). As many people know, JS was also Dean of St. Patrick's, so in a way, the two were united once more.

Talk by Mr Wilson Burgess and a selection of his favourite Ulster Scott versePresident Graham Kane introduced Mr Wilson Burgess. Wilson is a well known Ulster Scots broadcaster, writer and poet. For the meeting we were treated to a selection of his favourite verse, and how he came to write the different poems.
At the start of his talk, Wilson explained that he originates from Aghadowey, and that he had a great interest in the Ulster Scots dialect (or 'language' depending on your point of view) from an early age. He took to writing about what he heard and saw all around him, because he came from Aghadowey, and that was different to life in the city.

Talk by Dr. Scott White on ‘What is a Chiropractor’President Graham Kane introduced Dr. Scott White, our speaker for the day, who was accompanied by his wife Cynthia. Scott is an experienced Chiropractor and is based in Ballymoney. Scott began his talk with a short explanation of his personal history form his early years growing up in the USA, his training and how he came to make Ballymoney his home. From there he went on give his definition of 'Health' and Chiropractic help.
